Any correspondence from the tenant to the landlord about some information that he wants to communicate can be called a tenant letter.
All letters must have on them, the date, name of the tenant, his
address, name of the landlord and the latter's address in the
introduction. The signature of the tenant on the letter is mandatory.
Usually, a tenant letter would be any one of the following:
Letter to Request Repairs :
All the repairs that require immediate attention must be clearly
listed in this letter. You must also state if they have arisen because
of some doing on your part. The landlord can be asked to complete all
such repairs within a predetermined period of time.
Letter to Confirm a Verbal Agreement to Repair
This is a polite letter thanking the landlord for agreeing to take
prompt action about getting the repairs done. It is important to have
this in writing so that there is no confusion later on.
Letter to Terminate Your Residency
You have to notify the landlord if you want to vacate the premises.
This can be done with a letter to terminate your residency. The date on
which you will vacate and the date on which you will hand over the keys
have to be mentioned clearly. Since it is understood that the landlord
would like to look over his property before you vacate, you can arrive
at a convenient date to do the needful.
Written Statement of Deduction from the Security Deposit
You can write to the landlord if you receive a written statement of
deduction from the security deposit and oppose the listed subtractions
that he has made from your security deposit. You can even threaten him
with a court case if he does not return the money he has wrongfully
held back, within a certain period of time.
